A handloom saree, cared for well, outlives its owner. Here is how to keep yours heirloom-ready.
Cleaning
- Dry-clean only for the first few washes, especially for zari work.
- Never machine wash or wring pure silk.
- Blot spills gently; avoid rubbing, which can bruise the weave.
Storage
- Wrap in a soft muslin or cotton cloth — never plastic, which traps moisture.
- Refold along different lines every few months to prevent permanent creases.
- Keep away from direct sunlight to protect natural dyes.
- Tuck in a few cloves or neem leaves to deter silverfish.
Zari & embellishment
Real-gold and tested zari can tarnish with humidity. Store in a dry place and air the saree occasionally. Avoid perfume and deodorant contact with the zari.
Draping
Opt for our fall & pico finishing for everyday drape-readiness, and custom blouse stitching for a tailored fit — both available at checkout.
